If ever an incentive were needed to go green then Carillion Property Services has spelt it out loud and clear - huge financial savings.
The company has saved £1,000s and reduced its vehicle emissions by seven per cent in just six months by adding 200 diesel engine Peugeot light commercial vehicles to its fleet.
The vans, including the mid-size Partner, the larger Expert and the compact Bipper as well as full-size Boxers, have been supplied on a four-year contract hire with maintenance agreement by Carillion Fleet Management. Though their green credentials are not to be underestimated, there is more to these vans than just their environmental role as each is fitted with speed limiters and tracking systems which help to drive down fuel bills and improve safety.
In its Scotland operation alone, the new vehicles are estimated to save Carillion Property Services £24,000 in fuel over the next 12 months.
Mark Smith, a company representative, is thrilled with the results and states that the choice of Peugeot vans was not made lightly.
“We were keen to have all our vehicles from one manufacturer and there was no other company that could match the sheer variety of sizes, together with the impressive service that Peugeot delivers,” he said.
“Another key factor for us was driver safety and here too, Peugeot was always the front-runner, thanks to the vehicles’ ABS brakes, airbags and secure cabins.
“Not only have these new Peugeot vans delivered impressive performance improvements, they have also proved a big hit with our drivers too, thanks to the comfortable cabin environment and the high levels of equipment.”
The firm currently runs 600 vehicles and expects to add more Peugeot vans to its fleet as part of its rolling replacement programme.
