The way we see it, if you’re gonna build a soap box racer that looks like a car, why not do it with some style? That’s exactly what notable custom motorcycle builder Roland Sands and his team have set out to do. The plan is to build a gravity-driven racer in the form of a time machine-spec DeLorean to terrorize the Red Bull Soapbox Race Grand Avenue and 5th Street in downtown Los Angeles on September 26th.
Nobody who has seen the metal machinery rolling out of RSD will doubt that the team will successfully build a fine product, and the initial progress report has been captured on video. If our calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you’re going to see some serious… um, stuff. Click past the break to watch the video.
