The new Toyota Prius is officially on sale in the UK now - and it has already been deemed a hit.
The hybrid car, dubbed the car of the stars because of its popularity among Hollywood celebrities, has attracted a huge order book with almost 10 per cent of its orders made through the UK’s scrappage scheme.
By the time of the Prius’s official on-sale date earlier this week, more than 2,000 advance orders had been taken with drivers ready to exchange their old, dirty and high polluting models for the Prius which is dubbed the world’s ‘cleanest family car’ with CO2 emissions of just 89g/km on the T3 model.
Indeed a Press release from Toyota touts the versatility of the car by pointing out that it has had huge appeal across a range of motorists. Under the terms of the scrappage scheme, motorists have so far given up everything from the Jaguar Sovereign and the Mercedes Benz SL to a Nissan Sunny and a Fiat Tipo to replace them with the new Toyota Prius.
The company has also enjoyed tremendous feedback from its marketing activities which included a retail and fleet driving opportunity that was taken by 3,000 people.
